For 40 years, families and schools have felt the transformative power of evidence-based, interactive, experiential Positive Discipline workshops. Using engaging activities, including role-play, adults step into the shoes of the child to see what works, and what doesn’t. Parents and teachers get a firsthand understanding of how their behaviours truly impact children, and through this process they are able to turn head knowledge into heart knowledge.
Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading impactful, experientially based parenting classes using the Positive Discipline model developed by Dr. Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott.

MY POSITIVE DISCIPLINE JOURNEY
My journey into respectful parenting began when my eldest daughter was 2 years old, she made a very normal toddler ‘mistake’ that I believed needed ‘time-out’ or a ‘naughty-step’. Enforcing that punishment went against every part of me that cried out for love and connection, knowing my daughter was looking for the same.
Yet it wasn’t until a few weeks later that she commented, ‘you don’t love me when I’m bad’ referring to the ‘time-out’ incident. In this moment I knew that punishment will never ‘teach’ the lesson I hoped she’d learn, and I was determined to learn how to parent without punishments.
It wasn’t until several years and three kids later that I was introduced to Positive Discipline - and the experiential nature of the workshops blew my mind. It turned all the head knowledge I had from books and the internet, into heart knowledge and transformed my parenting, as well as my classroom management skills as an early childhood and primary educator.
I believe in the experiential nature of parenting classes so much that I began facilitating them in 2018, and have since worked with countless families who have experienced positive results after just a couple of weeks of implementing the concepts and strategies from the Positive Discipline program.
I became a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer in 2025 and have trained dozens of participants as Parent Educators who are now conducting workshops in their local communities.
